If you asked someone on the street about the castle at the end of the village, he'd tell you that no one lived there. But the locals had heard someone in there before, and it was a public secret that the castle was the house and working place of an old wizard. He wasn't considered a danger, not even then, at a time when magic was outlawed and the punishment was death, since even the superstitious villagers perceived him as weak. In his tower, he spent his days travelling through dimensions and his nights recording the knowledge he'd gathered…
