Tavern by the Forest
A tavern, old and crooked with a thatched roof, sits at the edge of a forgotten forest on a beaten track. Inside are thieves and assassins, merchants and farmers, explorers and wizards.
Hidden in the corner is a young pilgrim at one with the ancient spirits of the sun, moon and stars. They collect tales as they travel from great scared forests to secret enchanted lakes. When the crowd starts to thin, the pilgrim catches on to a conversation between a wild teenage thief and an old merchant, who used to work stealing and selling Dragon eggs and Phoenix feathers and Unicorn horns.
The pilgrim sews words together and a story starts to form. An elegant feather quill scratches on tanned parchment as they scribble down the winding tale. Treacherous storms, feral beasts, a simple mistake that landed someone in peril.
In the dead of night, the pilgrim is alone in the tavern. They drink the last droplets in their tankard before collecting their few belongings and waltzing into the darkness for their own adventure.
