Field by Train Tracks
The late winter snow melts in the cold rain and trains keep rattling past, but time stands still under the tree. Maybe it would be better if you could see the stars. If you’d been a little faster, a little bit smarter. If you’d worn a warmer coat. When spring comes this field will be full of life, but tonight every rustle and whisper is a warning and a possibility. It’s too cold to stand outside waiting for someone who isn’t coming back.
