Dying for a Kiss
You can see her eyes- so clear and blue. You've never been so enchanted by anything before in your life. She speaks and it's like a poem. Consonants fall from her lips like droplets of dew and though you can't understand her command, your body moves to obey. You stretch over the side of your boat to meet her kiss but she seems to grow heavy in the water. Her shoulders, then her neck grow watery and dark. You lean farther. Her black eyes seem deep like well water- so black...black? It's getting harder to breathe now. Your lungs heave but can find no air. Your vision is blurry- you can barely see her now, swimming just out of reach of you, beckoning with one long fingernail, gossamer fins undulating in the current. Your frozen body unwillingly follows.
