A Difficult Battle
From the parapet and far from harm’s way, Amarith looked out across the battlefield. Never before had such vehement fighting entered the capital of Vors, Haret – but now, the streets were filled with armed soldiers and the violent scent of blood and fear.
Civilians, clutching their livelihoods, clutching their children, risking their futures, ran frantically for cover as Svikari’s forces pushed further toward the palace.
And Amarith stood.
Watched.
Agonised.
I she released her hold over the other gods, she might be able to end the fighting with a single breath – but in that instant she knew Svikari was waiting for, much more devastation could be inflicted upon an already scared world.
So she stood.
Watched.
And agonised, as her mortal allies died.
